Our video demonstrates a step by step application process that can be used both for Smart Base Coat and Apex Gel Extend. With correct nail prep, our signature technique will guarantee a chip free application.
We wanted to provide a very realistic presentation of the process so the video is a little long. If you are short for time, please feel free to skip any repeating parts.
We highly recommend to watch the full video and apply this technique in your own services.
If you love this technique and it works for you please let our team know by using #smartgellifique 😍 in your social media posts.
for the product application you will need Isopropyl Alcohol Solution, Lint free Wipes, Pro Cure Lamp, Gel Nail Brush, Liner Gel Brush.
keep all application thin - the strength is formulated within the product not within the thickness of the layers.
apply a thin coat of the products as a "base layer" really working it into the natural nail as if trying to massage it in. Then, cure 30 sec. in the Pro Cure Lamp.
avoid applying the product in a technique often seen on trending social media. We find the thickness of sculpting layers demonstrated by various bloggers alarmingly too thick! These layers can cause discomfort to your clients during the curing process, issues with product curability itself and an excessive amount of bulk to the natural nail that can result in trauma when the nail begins to grow out.
You can use both Smart Base Coat or Apex Gel Extend with the Quick Tips System but, as the products are thicker in texture and more pigmented you may experience some trapped air bubbles or gaps during application in comparison with using the Rubber Base Coat in Medium.
So, in terms of the adhesion properties there would be no issues, however, aesthetically it may not look very nice if you are not planning to apply another product on top of the tip.
Smart Base Coat is ideally suited for a soak - off removal or for a re - balance service. Apex Gel Extend is harder to remove via soak off in comparison to the new, Smart Base System, so if you have a client that prefers a soak off removal this is a perfect option.
Please keep in mind that regular soak - offs can have a very drying effects to the nails and surrounding skin. For more sensitive clients we would always recommend a file off removal than a soak off whenever possible.
